Statement from Acting State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball on the Appointment of Chris Watkins as Director of Cornell Cooperative Extension

Congratulations to Chris Watkins on his appointment as the new Director of Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE).  CCE provides valuable insight on issues that matter most to farmers, including cutting-edge research to help foster the growth of industry, on-the-ground assistance for dairy farmers through initiatives like our own Dairy Acceleration Program, and partnership through the Extension Disaster Education Network to assist in times of disaster and recovery.  A valuable resource for both urban and rural communities, CCE works to develop the next generation of farmers while vigilantly working with us to help ensure a safe food supply for all New Yorkers.  CCE is a true partner and a highly important resource for the Department of Agriculture and Markets, and I greatly look forward to working with Chris to further the growth of New York’s important agricultural sector in the future.
