New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball today alerted consumers that “Semita and Pan Chapin sweet breads”, manufactured by Genesis Bakery, located at 12 Drayton Ave, Bayshore, NY, are recalled due to undeclared soy. People who have allergies and/or severe sensitivity to soy run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
Genesis Bakery “Semita and Pan Chapin sweet breads” packaged in clear wrap with Semita’s UPC Code #648733000036 and an expiration date of March 28, 2026, and Pan Chapin’s UPC Code#648733000029 and an expiration date of March 29, 2026 are subject to this recall. Photos of the products are included in this consumer alert. The products were sold at retail stores in the New York Metropolitan Area.
The contamination was discovered after sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors, and subsequent analysis of Food Laboratory personnel found the products contained soy.
Consumers who purchased Genesis Bakery” Semita and Pan Chapin sweet breads” covered under this recall are urged to not consume the product. Consumers with questions may contact Genesis Bakery at 631-365-4052.
