NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets Announces Open Stakeholder Meetings for Urban Farms and Community Gardens Grant Program
Seeking Feedback on the $800,000 Grant Program, Which Will Fund the Development and Enhancement of Urban Farms, School Gardens, and Community Gardens

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is hosting open stakeholder meetings for the Urban Farms and Community Gardens Grant Program, authorized in this year’s state budget. The grant program, which was first announced in Governor Hochul’s State of the State, will fund projects for the development and enhancement of urban farms, school gardens, and community gardens. The Department is seeking feedback on the greatest needs and ways for this funding to create a lasting impact on local food resiliency.

The meetings will be hosted on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. and at 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. To access the meeting online via WebEx, please visit:

The Department is developing the Urban Farms and Community Gardens Grant Program with an anticipated release date this fall. A total of $800,000 is available for this program.

A recording of the meeting and a copy of the presentation offered by staff will be made available afterwards at https://agriculture.ny.gov/community-gardens-and-urban-agriculture.  Questions or feedback on the program may also be submitted to Program Manager Courtney Bailey at [email protected].
