Six new rides join the Wade Shows Midway at the 2019 Great New York State Fair, offering everything from fun for kids to excitement for thrill-seekers. The biggest of those new rides is The Frisbee, which seats riders around a circle. As they swing back and forth on a long arm, the circle spins around and around. The other new thrill ride, the Downdraft, swings riders in a wide circle as mechanical arms raise and lower quickly.
Three new rides -- Charlie Chopper, Dalmatians and NASCAR -- offer excitement for younger fairgoers while the new Bumper Boats ride is fun for the family. In addition, the thrill ride Rock Star is back after a two-year absence, the thrill ride Axis is an update of The Sizzler, and the family ride Silver Streak is newly refurbished. The full list of rides can be found here.
“The Midway is a highlight of the Fair for many people. Our excellent partners at Wade Shows always put on a great show with exciting ride, games and food. As for me, I’m looking forward to a ride on the Frisbee!” said Troy Waffner, Fair Director.
“We work year-round to bring the best in Midway entertainment to the Great New York State Fair. This year is no exception as we introduce the one-of-a-kind Frisbee ride that I’m sure fairgoers will be talking about for the rest of the summer,” said Frank Zaitshik, Wade Shows owner.
Discounted ride-all-day vouchers are on sale now at the Fair’s official online sales site, Etix.com. Vouchers for ride-all-day wristbands good any day of the Fair are $25 while vouchers for ride-all-day wristbands good only on weekdays are $20 during the Fair’s advance sale. When the Fair begins, prices rise by $10 for each. The Midway’s biggest fans can purchase vouchers for the Wade Shows Mega Pass, which allows unlimited rides all 13 days, at the Wade Shows website. Mega Passes are $70 through August 2o, then $90 through August 28.
Online buyers will receive vouchers, which must be taken to the Wade Shows customer service booths on the Midway during the Fair to be exchanged for wristbands. Wristbands are not good for rides on the Broadway Skyliner or Broadway Bubble Express. Once purchased, vouchers are not refundable. Buyers should contact Etix customer service with questions.
Wristbands are not recommended for children under 36" as there are a limited number of rides they can safely ride. Parents with children under 48" should check the height requirements before purchasing to make an informed decision about whether wristbands are the best value for their children. Information about all the rides Wade Shows offers, including height requirements, can be seen here. Wade Shows offers a wristband good for 10 rides for $10 on Monday, August 27 and all rides are $1 on Labor Day, September 3.
