State Agriculture Commissioner will promote the purchase of New York State grown Christmas trees with a tree-cutting event at NYS Grown & Certified Boulder Brook Farm. The tree will be displayed in the Adirondacks New York Welcome Center to further encourage consumers to buy local trees this holiday season. A second tree will be donated to a local homeless shelter run by CAPTAIN Community Human Services.
Additional local trees will be on display across the state at New York’s regional Welcome Centers, Taste NY stores, and the Empire State Plaza in Albany. New York’s Christmas tree industry is estimated to be a $13.8 million industry and there are approximately 750 tree farms across the state.
