La Flor Products Co., Inc. of Hauppauge, NY, is recalling its 2-oz, 3-oz and 6-oz packages of "La Flor Ground Cumin and Kitchen Blend- Ground Cumin" because it may contain traces of undeclared peanuts. People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled "La Flor-Ground Cumin" was distributed in the Tri-State area to supermarket chains, independent supermarkets and mass merchandisers.
The recalled product will be found in the following distinct package container.
Clear 2-oz square glass jar with label UPC-077636014503 and lot number RLF904 and expiration date 10/18,11/18 and 12/18 stamped on the side.
Clear 3-oz plastic round jar with label UPC-077636992504/UPC-077636014510 and lot number RLF904 and expiration dates 10/18,11/18 and 12/18 stamped on the side.
Clear 6-oz plastic round jar with labelUPC-077636014602 and lot number RLF904 and expiration dates 10/18,11/18 and 12/18 stamped on the side.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recall is being initiated after it was sampled by the NYS Dept. of Agriculture food inspectors and the subsequent analysis by NYS Food Laboratory revealed the products contained undeclared peanut allergens. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem originated at the country of origin where the product was harvested and processed.
Consumers who have purchased any of the "La Flor-Ground Cumin and/or Kitchen Blend-Ground Cumin" in the package listed above are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 631-851-9601,Monday-Friday 9am -4 pm ET.
