Finest Food Distributing Co. NY Inc. located at 87-21 76th St. Woodhaven, NY 11421 is recalling Jamaican Choice Hot Curry Powder and Jamaican Choice Curry Powder because the product contains elevated lead levels.

The recalled Jamaican Choice Curry Powder is packed in 2.25 oz, 6.25 oz and 22oz plastic bottles. The product has code BB 06/17/19 and Lot #061416. The product was distributed in New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Massachusetts, Delaware, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Routine sampling of Curry Hot Powder by New York State Department of Agriculture and Market’s Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by the New York State Food Laboratory revealed the elevated level of lead.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Lead can accumulate in the body over time. Too much can cause health problems, including delayed mental and physical development and learning deficiencies.
