New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball today alerted consumers to undeclared peanut allergens in “Suya Khebab Pepper,” distributed by Eden Wholesale LLC, located at 552 Casanova Street, Bronx, NY 10474. People who have severe sensitivity to peanuts may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product. No illnesses have been reported to date to this Department in connection with this product.
The recalled “Suya Khebab Pepper” is packaged in an 8 oz. plastic jar and bears a container code of: “Prod. Date 20th February 2017. Best Before 30th December 2020.” The product is imported from Ghana.
Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ food inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by the New York State Food Laboratory revealed the product contained peanut allergens, which were not declared on the label.
Consumers who have purchased “Suya Khebab Pepper” may return the product to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions about the recalled product may contact Korkor Kuma at (347) 545-2474.
