Consumer Alert: Undeclared Peanuts in "Nayass Tom Brown"

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball today alerted consumers to the presence of undeclared peanut allergens in “Nayass Tom Brown,” distributed by Pyram Enterprises LLC, which is located at 123 Valentine Lane, Yonkers, NY 10705. The product was sold at Caribbean Produce, located at 1360 Lafayette Ave, Bronx, NY 10474. People who are allergic to peanuts may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product. No illnesses have been reported to date to the Department in connection with this product.

The recalled “Nayass Tom Brown” is packaged in an 800-gm plastic jar. The product bears an expiration date of April 2024. The product is imported from Ghana.        

Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ food safety inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by the New York State Food Laboratory revealed the product contained peanut allergens, which were not declared on the label.
