Consumer Alert: Undeclared Peanuts in “Corriander Powder”

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball today alerted consumers to undeclared peanuts in America’s Best brand “Corriander Powder,” packaged and distributed by Patel Grocery located at 5303 4th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11220.  People who have severe sensitivity to peanuts may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product. No illnesses have been reported to date to this Department in connection with this product. 

The recalled “Corriander Powder” is packaged in an uncoded, 14 oz. (400 gm) plastic bag.  The product was sold at various retail stores in Brooklyn.    Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ food inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by the New York State Food Laboratory revealed the product contained peanut allergens, which were not declared on the label.
