New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball today alerted consumers to undeclared peanut allergens in “Tom Brown Cereal mix,” imported and distributed by Eben Wholesale LLC, located at 552 Casanova St, Bronx, NY 10474. People who have severe sensitivity to peanuts may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product. No illnesses have been reported to date to this Department in connection with this product.
The recalled “Tom Brown Cereal mix” is packaged in an 700 g, plastic container with a code of “Batch no. STF-ATB/10 22, Production date: Oct. 2022”. The product is imported from Ghana and was sold from the cash and carry store at 552 Casanova St, Bronx, NY 10474.
Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ food inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by the New York State Food Laboratory revealed the product contained peanut allergens, which were not declared on the label.
