New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball today alerted consumers to undeclared milk in Shwe Kyee brand “Special Dried Butter Cake.” The product was sold at Lucky 7 Asian Market located at 931 Niagara Street in Buffalo, NY. To date, no illnesses have been reported to the Department of Agriculture and Markets in connection with this product. If consumed, the product may pose a serious risk to those who have a severe sensitivity to milk.
The recalled Shwe Kyee brand “Special Dried Butter Cake” is packaged in a 7.8 ounce plastic bag and has no container code. The product is labeled as “Exported by PNP Trading (Thailand) Co., LTD located at 68/12 Moo5, Khlongkum, Buengkum dist, Bangkok 10240, Thailand.
Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Safety Inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by the New York State Food Laboratory revealed the product contained milk allergens, which were not declared on the label.
