New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball today alerted consumers that “Heimishe Babaganoush,” “Heimishe Mushroom Dip,” and “Heimishe Sesame Garlic Dip,” manufactured by Aderaba Fine Foods., located at 4316 16th Ave, Brooklyn, New York, are recalled due to undeclared eggs. “Heimishe Chummus,” “Heimishe Chummus with Garlic,” and “Heimishe Chummus with Mushrooms,” also manufactured by Aderaba Fine Foods, are also recalled due to undeclared sesame and sulfites. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs, sesame, or sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. To date, no illnesses have been reported to the Department associated with this product.
“Heimishe Babaganoush,” “Heimishe Mushroom Dip,” “Heimishe Sesame Garlic Dip,” Heimishe Chummus,” “Heimishe Chummus with Garlic,” and “Heimishe Chummus with Mushrooms” are all sold in 7 oz. plastic containers with sell by dates prior to 8/11/26. Photos of the products are included in this consumer alert. The product was sold at retail stores in Brooklyn, New York.
The undeclared ingredients were discovered during a routine inspection by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors and confirmed by testing at the New York State Food Laboratory.
