The New York State Apiary Industry Advisory Committee will meet in Syracuse on Thursday, November 20. The meeting will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Art and Home Center of the New York State Fairgrounds. Parking is available for all attendees.
The purpose of the committee is to keep the Commissioner of Agriculture and Markets informed on the issues beekeepers are dealing with here in New York. The Department of Agriculture and Markets also shares information acquired during these meetings to help assist New York beekeepers.
In 2013, there were more than 55,500 apiaries with five or more colonies in New York that produced over 2.6 million pounds of honey.
