To import llamas, alpacas, guanacos, vicunas, or camels into New York State you must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection issued by an accredited veterinarian in the 30 days preceding importation.
There is no permit number required to import llamas, alpacas, guanacos, vicunas, or camels into New York State.
New York City has its own regulations regarding animals coming into city limits in addition to New York State import requirements. The full 2019 fair admission requirements are listed below. Some requirements for camelids include a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection, an official ear tag or microchip, and an approved negative test appropriate to detect Bovine Viral Diarrhea persistent infection.
